CARRY: Liberty is in jeopardy
Re: Constitutional Carry; The article about the Rally fails to make something clear: There is no license needed to carry “open.” I can walk down any street in Idaho with a holstered gun on my hip and that’s perfectly legal. But let it get cold or rain and I need to put on my coat? BAM! I am now a criminal - unless I have a little plasticized card that says I’ve paid fees, been fingerprinted/background checked, etc. The same applies to my wife if she just wants to put her gun in her purse. We must have “the blessing of the king,” so to speak. All this just to put on my coat?
The article asserts that the police know one is a “good guy” by having a CWL. Sheriff Wheeler’s message debunks that by his statement that police are trained to treat everyone they encounter as armed.
Lastly, any elected official is allowed to carry concealed simply by virtue of getting lots of people to vote for them. No training, no fees, no checks. This creates separate classes of citizens, which violates equal protection under the law. Are we somehow “inferior” to a “public servant” supposedly working FOR us?
A right which requires licenses and fees to be paid is no longer a “right” but a privilege. Constitutional Carry will restore our right to protect ourselves and wear a coat or carry in a purse without the government’s “permission.” Stand up, Idaho, and demand your liberty back!
