Post Falls tripped up by late Moses Lake TD

| October 3, 2015 9:29 PM

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Post Falls took the lead with three minutes remaining, but the Moses Lake Chiefs scored the winning touchdown with 32 seconds left to upend the Trojans 13-8 in a nonleague high school football game Friday night.

Mark Haines connected with Preston Bourgard on a 28-yard pass play to pull Post Falls (3-3) within 7-6. The Trojans went for two and the lead, and got it when Haines hooked up with tight end Cameron Welker on the conversion.

But Moses Lake (3-2) used a trick play to move the ball deep into Trojans territory, and ran the ball in from short yardage for the winning points.
“Defensively we played very well; we just didn’t win the ballgame at the end,” Post Falls coach Jeff Hinz said. “Our defense played lights out for the first 2 1/2 to 3 quarters. We didn’t move the ball well (in the first half), then got some momentum in the second half. Austin Jackson ran the ball well.”
Max McCullough had an interception for Post Falls, and Hinz said Gunnar Sciortino also played well on defense.
Post Falls opens 5A Inland Empire League play next Friday at home vs. Lake City.

Post Falls 0 0 0 8 — 8
Moses Lake 0 0 7 6 — 13
