PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Genesis Prep wins debut
MULLAN — Bella Murekatete scored 14 points and grabbed 20 rebounds as the Genesis Prep Jaguars defeated the Mullan Tigers 52-44 on Friday night in the first round of the Silver Valley Tournament.
Rachel Schroeder scored 18 points and hit three of her four 3-pointers in the second half for Genesis Prep, in its first game as an Idaho High School Activities Association-sanctioned program. Shaye Schreibeis hit three of her four 3s in the first half, and added 12 points.
“I thought the kids did a great job,” Genesis Prep coach Debbie Holte said. “Bella was in foul trouble in the first half and didn’t play a whole lot, and the other kids stepped up and played real hard.”
