Leland C. Chase, 86

| May 31, 2015 9:00 PM

Leland C. Chase, 86, was born on July 23, 1928, to Leland W. Chase and Alta Blanch McDaniel in Spokane, Wash. He lived in Troy, Mont., in his younger years.

Leland married Joyce Molneaux in 1950 and became the proud father of four children: Carolyn, Leland S. "Stan," John, and Robert "Dale." After working at various jobs throughout the great Northwest, he moved to Coeur d'Alene and went to work for Potlatch Mill as a mechanic. Joyce and he later divorced, and Leland married Emma (Pullin) Kelley on May 11, 1973, and became the stepfather to her daughter, Karen.

In 1975, Lee was in a terrible plane crash and was not expected to live. But live he did, and even though the doctors gave him no hope of ever walking again, he proved them wrong. His strong determination and will helped him live through several surgeries and extreme pain. He continued doing what he loved best as well as he could - which was being a mechanic and teaching his sons all he could, as well as hunting and fishing.

The Lord finally has his home on high ready for him, and he has joined his son, Robert; grandson Ritchie; sisters Myrna and Carol; brother Leroy; and his parents. He is finally free from his pain.

Leland leaves his legacy and fond memories behind to his wife, Emma; children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, which is a long list.

We, the family of Leland Chase, would like to express our greatest gratitude to Drs. Chisholm and Chilton, their wonderful staffs, and the great care of Crest Home Health and Hospice, and to his companion, Shannon, for all the things that made him smile, comfortable, and happy as well as extending his life.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at the LDS Church, 2801 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene.
