Rhianna Grossman
Carroll track and field
Grossman, a senior from Lake City High in Coeur d’Alene, finished fifth in 11 minutes, 00.88 seconds in the 3,000 meter steeplechase during the NAIA Championship meet in Gulf Shores, Ala. Grossman fell into the water pit on the first lap, receiving a gash on her leg as other competitors landed on her and was in last place before battling back. “She showed a lot of heart to overcome that,” Carroll coach Harry Clark said. “Her leg looks like she was attacked by a bear. I’m sure it wasn’t easy to run on, but she battled hard to put herself back in medal contention.”
