LaVerne 'Sam' Oberg, 82
LaVerne "Sam" Oberg passed away on May 21, 2015, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
LaVerne was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Lewiston, Idaho. She graduated from Sprague High School in 1950. She spent many years employed with GTE and was a retired Teamster, Local 959.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth (Evans) Jones; and her daughter, Kelly, in 1971.
She is survived by her husband, James Oberg of Rathdrum, Idaho; son Rick Hill of Post Falls, Idaho; daughter Debra Contreas of Texas; sisters Patty Gebhart of Coeur d'Alene and Irene Ward of California; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was a big animal lover with many animals of her own. She was also a supporter of Kootenai Humane Society. Donations can be made to the Kootenai Humane Society in her memory.
