One dead, one arrested in Lewiston killing

LEWISTON (AP) - Police in the North Idaho city of Lewiston said they have arrested a man who called 911 to report that a friend was dead in what might have been a suicide.

KHQ-TV of Spokane reports officers found the body of 53-year-old David Cramer early Thursday in the living room of a home, covered in blood. Police became suspicious about the cause of death as they investigated, obtaining a search warrant and finally taking the 911 caller in for questioning.

They have arrested 53-year-old Patrick Nuxoll of Lewiston for investigation of first-degree murder and booked him into the Nez Perce County Jail.

Ballot error could cause election redo in Idaho

CALDWELL (AP) - An Idaho city may have to redo its school board election after officials found problems with ballots in one district.

The Canyon County Elections Office announced Wednesday that there was a problem with five ballots in Tuesday's election. The incumbent was re-elected by only four votes.

Canyon County Clerk Chris Yamamoto says five ballots for Caldwell School District Zone 2 elections were incorrectly issued to Zone 1 voters, who did not have an election.

In the Zone 2 election, incumbent Thomas Briten received 108 votes and his challenger Toni Waters received 104 votes.

Candidates will be allowed to contest the election outcome within 20 days after the Board of County Commissioners canvass election results.

That is scheduled to take place Tuesday.
