TEACHERS: Not enough appreciation

I usually keep my opinion to myself but felt compelled after I read Mr. Johnson’s letter.

I want to thank anyone who has, currently is or aspires to teach because it is a thankless job. I believe that teachers truly are one of the foundations of our society. Teachers are tasked to educate our youth not just in scholastics but they are also attempting to mold them into successful society members for the future. Your next doctor, police officer and yes even machinist.

Teachers work hard for the money they get paid. They are at school long before the kids arrive and remain long after they have gone home. To me, that dedication deserves a nice car in the driveway and a few months off.

Thank you teachers for what you do. You clearly don’t do it for the pay; you do it because you want to make a difference in a child’s life. Thank you, and I would gladly vote for any tax increase that goes to teachers’ pay. Also to the machinist, thank you for what you do as well.
