Alvin Sherwood Hanson, 88

Alvin Sherwood Hanson, 88, passed away on May 3, 2015, at Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d'Alene.

Alvin was born on Jan. 7, 1927, in Seattle, Wash., to Lester T. and Lenora (Bierseth) Hanson. He married his wife of 45 years, Dorothy, in August 1970.

Al was proud to have served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He owned and operated the Union 76, and the Union 76 bulk plant, with his father in Coeur d'Alene for many years. Al was an active member of the Calam Shriners and many other community charity groups.

Al is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters Diane Maki, Shari Miethe, Connie Brenaman and son Jeff Hanson; stepdaughter Rexanne Roberge and stepson Craig Plumlee; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

At Al's request, there will be no service.
