ACLU: Undressing the Constitution
I just read an article in the Spokesman Review, “ACLU Says Dress Code Discriminates By Gender.” According to the article, the ACLU is threatening the autonomy of the local school districts. They say the dress code is unconstitutional and MUST be changed to comply with Constitutional standards. They have the gall to send warnings to all Idaho school districts.
Cassia County School District requires all female students participating in the high school graduation to wear white or pastel dresses. Male graduating students must wear pants and a tie.
ACLU legal director Richard Eppink said, “Schools that make a distinction between boy and girl dress codes are enforcing gender stereotyping policies which violate the State and United States Constitutions.”
How stupid can you get? Does Mr. Eppink expect all the boys to wear white or pastel dresses or the girls to wear pants and a tie? Maybe to simplify this issue all parents should have surgery performed on their children at birth to make them gender neutral.
You say, that is outrageous! You are being sarcastic! Yes, it was intended to be just as bizarre as Mr. Eppink’s dress code or lack thereof. A major problem is that every time the ACLU squawks we get weak-kneed and cave in to their demands. I am asking you to stiffen your backbones and join me in standing tall and strong by publicly supporting the Cassia County School District. It is time for common sense, logical people to pull together and tell the ACLU to butt out of our state. We do not need the ridiculous threats of the ACLU telling us how to govern our lives, our schools, our state and our country. And yes, anybody with a little common sense can better interpret the Idaho and U.S. Constitutions.
