The Revolutionary War was over! The Colonists won! But, in the outlying hamlet of Viewbay, news was slow in coming. Loyalists to the King were not happy with Home Rule, believing that the King’s governing power was working just fine and, in many instances, that was true. For those brave patriots who fought for democratic principles, many were forced to live with sullied reputations and unforgiving neighbors. However; through their efforts, the little hamlet of Viewbay made the decision to hold elections, knowing some would win and some would lose, but the real win was to have a choice and not to look backwards. And, that’s how “The Little Engine That Could” became a storybook legend.
