| May 17, 2015 9:00 PM

Harold Edward Benson, 82, passed away on April 29, 2015.

Harold was born in Coeur d'Alene on Feb. 6, 1933, to Elmer and Ester Benson.

In 1951, Harold joined the U.S. Army and served for three years. Upon his return to North Idaho, he bought property in Worley. He married Nelda Walker, and they raised her three children: Johnnie, Pumpkin, and Judy.

Harold and Nelda also raised hound dogs. Harold often went coon hunting with a friend from Rockford - he enjoyed the dogs, and the hunt.

Harold logged with his best friend Ray Melvin using Belgian horses - they brought in big loads. He also worked in the sawmill and planted trees for the U.S. Forestry Department.

When he wasn't busy, Harold enjoyed fishing with his friends, and visiting with family and friends.

Harold is now reunited in heaven with his wife Nelda; his parents Elmer and Ester; his brothers Carl, Jack, Norman, and Tom; and his sister, Jane.

He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Benson Lenz; grandchildren Johnnie, Tracy, and Mindy; his great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22, at Mica Peak Cemetery on E. Elder Road, in Rockford, Wash.

Arrangements have been made by English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d'Alene. The family would like to thank Roger for his assistance.
