MALCOLM: He's always on the job

As a Lakes Highway District commissioner, I have worked with Dan for the past three years. Yes, he goes south for three to four months, but is available by phone, fax or email at any time. He has videoed all of our roads and can look up any section that anyone has questions about. He is in communication with office staff during the work week, to be informed of any areas of concern. When situations have risen, he has flown back to take care of business at hand, at his expense. He participates in every board meeting by phone when he is gone. By having all board material emailed before the meetings, he is able to be fully engaged and involved in district-wide decisions and policy making.

As to transparency, the board meetings are the first and third Monday at 5:30 p.m. The district welcomes anyone to come and address the board with any questions or concerns they have.

Dan has been instrumental in helping steer the Lakes Highway District into the future while protecting the taxpayer dollars on future improvements.
