Ronald 'Ron' Clifford Zent, 60
Ronald "Ron" Clifford Zent, 60, resident of Coeur d'Alene, passed away on May 8, 2015, under Hospice Care at the Veterans Medical Center in Spokane, Wash.
Ron was born in Wallace, Idaho, on April 21, 1955, to William and Marion (Case) Zent.
Ron earned his GED while serving in the U.S. Army, where he trained to become a Radio Operator and earned the rank of E-4. He served overseas for two years and four months during the Vietnam War. He also earned his National Defense Service Medal and his Sharpshooter status.
An avid sports fan, Ron loved the Seahawks and had a passion for golf. ESPN was always on when he was home, and he knew the names of most of the prominent players in several different sports. Ron also enjoyed having a cold beer with his lifelong friends at the Sundown Saloon, who have named a spring golf tournament in honor of his life: The Ron Zent Open.
Ron was a dad, brother, and friend, but two years ago the greatest joy came when his grandson, Ronin, was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Marion Zent; his grandparents; an uncle; and a great-nephew.
Ron is survived by daughter, Megan Zent (Matt Weber); grandson Ronin Weber; brother Lonnie Zent (Brenda); sisters Jane Walker (Mike) and Jodi Beebe; nephews Brandon Zent, Joshua, Nicholas and Patrick Walker, Steven and Luther Beebe; niece Tabitha Beebe; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
