Kenneth Gayle Orth, 58
Kenny left this world to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on April 20, 2015. Being diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer 46 days earlier, Kenny spent those days heroically and with grace doing God's will of making amends to those he may have hurt, forgiving those who hurt him, thanking the ones who walked along side him in his walk with Jesus, sharing the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ and lavishing love and tenderness on his wife Shelley Orth. Kenny had his wife, his mother and his sister continually at his side during his final days, welcoming the many close friends and family that came to hold him up in prayer and love.
Kenny was born and raised in Spokane, Wash., graduated from West Valley High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy where he worked as a Naval aircrewman and participated in air shows in Canada and the USA.
After completing his tour in the Navy, Kenny worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Walla Walla, Wash., as a civil engineer technician for over 15 years. The remainder of Kenny's years were here in North Idaho with his wife Shelley.
As a member of the Real Life Ministries family in Post Falls, Idaho, Kenny volunteered in many areas of the church including Celebrate Recovery, serving Men's Breakfast, Benevolence, the food room and countless hours for the thrift store for many years.
Kenny's favorite years began just over five years ago when his grandson, Carson, was born and it was a rare occasion if you didn't see them together. Kenny was the dad and the father that his daughter Bailey so desperately needed and loved, and he is and will continue to be greatly missed.
Kenny was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy; and his father, Archie.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Shelley; stepson Zachary Hyde; mother Jackie; brothers Archie (Polly) and Ricky (Suzy); sisters Janet (Jan) and Nancy; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces; his daughter, Bailey Rae Hyde; granddaughter Sophia Hyde, and the apple of Kenny's eye, his grandson Carson Chance Hyde.
Kenny will be laid to rest with his family and close friends in attendance at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, with military honors at the Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash. Please join us for a celebration of Kenny's life and a potluck reception at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Real Life Ministries (RLM 2), 1866 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls. You are welcome to participate in bringing food to share in the potluck. Contact Nancy for potluck details at 509-990-4990.
