Malibu opens dedicated lane for bicyclists

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Malibu, the city best known for celebrities and surfers, is making way for bike riders.

City News Service says officials on Wednesday celebrated the opening of the city's first-ever dedicated bike lane.

The 6-foot-wide lane runs for two miles along Zuma Beach and parallels the scenic Pacific Coast Highway.

It's open to bikes only.

Improvements also were unveiled to a 7-mile stretch of PCH that allows both bikes and cars.
