PREP BASKETBALL: McCullough, Kirby, Lawler named first-team all-Idaho
Junior guard Max McCullough, who led the Post Falls High boys basketball team to the state 5A championship, was named to the 5A boys all-Idaho first team Sunday by the Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise.
The 5-foot-9 McCullough averaged 15.9 points per game for the Trojans, shooting 52 percent from the floor — including 46.2 percent from 3-point range.
“Max is as skilled at scoring as we have ever had,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean told the newspaper.
Timberlake sophomore guards Allison Kirby and Keelie Lawler were each named to the 3A girls first team.
The 5-7 Kirby, a second-team selection last year, averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists per game for the Tigers, who finished second at state for the fourth time in five seasons.

The 5-9 Lawler, a first-team pick for the second straight year, averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals despite missing a handful of games due to injury.
“The game changes when she is on the floor,” Holt said.
