Free pike fishing seminar at Mark's Marine tonight

HAYDEN - Mark's Marine, in Hayden, is scheduled to host a pike fishing seminar tonight from 6:30-8 p.m.

The seminar will be by Brock Marrow, chairman of the North Idaho Pike Association, a local pike club which has worked the past 12 years to enhance the pike fishery.

Pike fishing has been picking up the past couple years with a number of pike caught that weighed more than 30 pounds, including a pair recently from Fernan Lake.

Big pike are quickly becoming one of the fish to go after.

Marrow is bringing a number of club members to share their experience for catching the big fish. Dan Pierce and Gary Franta will be joining Marrow on stage.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Recent seminars have all been packed houses, so those planning to attend tonight might want to get there a bit early to ensure good seating.

Mark's Marine, located at 14355 N. Government Way, has two upcoming seminars in April.

On April 2, Benita Galland will be talking about rainbow trout on Lake Roosevelt, and Roger Blackstone will be talking about fishing Lake Pend Oreille.

April 9, Mike Pentony will put on a seminar about "understanding your Sonar."
