CHRISTIAN: Yes, we're a godly nation

I congratulate Helmuth on apparently having a copy of the U.S. Constitution! However, the Constitution is not well suited to a “quick read” activity; a study is required. The intent of the Constitution is to define the responsibilities of the government, but mainly to limit the POWER of the U.S. Government. Please refer to Amendment X, which states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Thus the original concept regarding the distribution of power was to be with the States first, and the Government second. Unfortunately, to our detriment, we have let this be turned upside down! (An indication of the activity required of the Congress is given in Article I requiring that it assemble at least once every year!)

Regarding Amendment I: It is the Congress of the United States that is prohibited from the establishment of Religion. The Congress is also prohibited from “prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” I suggest that Helmuth refer to www.wallbuilders.com and read the dissertation regarding “The Letters Between The Danbury Baptists and Thomas Jefferson.” A study of the Declaration of Independence, and the Federalist Papers illustrates that we were indeed founded as a Godly Nation. The most common Bible in use at the time was the Authorized Version of the King James published in 1611. For many years, it was read and studied in the public schools (until the atheists and separationists and progressive judiciary got involved.) Thus, forming the foundation of a Christian people.

I stand by my position of “Idaho a Christian State.” You are aware, I hope of the numerous quotations of the Ten Commandments scattered throughout our government buildings, federal and state? I won’t address the reference to David Adler’s comments regarding his interpretations of the Constitution. If you quoted him correctly, he is wrong! Obama is reputed to have been a professor teaching the Constitution also! I also don’t agree with Helmuth’s position based upon Scripture either.

The rants of J. E. Harman aren’t worthy of comment!

Congratulations to C. Herndon for his excellent article.
