LEVY: On church, taxes and glasses
There are three things in life that are guaranteed, you will die, you will pay taxes and you will wear glasses. Read the obituaries and prepare for the inevitable — go to church, it’s a good thing!
Unexpected things happen along life’s journey and God is better suited to handle the tough stuff. Give Him a try.
There is an old saying, “Give Caesar what is Caesar’s.” Roman coins had Caesar’s picture on them. In America, people tax people. If you don’t like taxes, don’t vote for them. In any case, circle the dates on your calendar now, March 10 and April 15. On March 10, you can vote to tax your neighbors or not, and on April 15 you can send in your tax forms.
If you are a good hunter and don’t think you need glasses, think again. Pull out your driver’s license and check your age. Chances are if you are in your 40s or beyond, your arms may not stretch out far enough to read this. As time goes by, you might even become the perfect spouse missing fine details. Otherwise, you may have misplaced your glasses and can’t see the TV. In any case, if you like to read the paper while you watch the news, it is hard to “multitask” without a nice pair of bifocals. Get your eyes checked, buy real glasses — they are a tool. We all need a good box of tools to help us on life’s path.
Remember to keep the end in mind. Time flies and life is short.
