LEVY: More good than you can see
I am hoping by writing this letter it might help remind you to go out and vote “Yes” for the school levy on March 10. I don’t think many people realize how important this school levy is for the Coeur d’Alene School District. In my opinion it seems like people are quick in making a judgment, such as, “The district doesn’t need anymore money, Teachers earn too much, Why do our taxes always increase in order to give more money to schools?” These are all things I hear individuals complaining about and with those assumptions it is easy to see why we are ranked 48th in the nation.
I am currently employed in the Coeur d’Alene School District and have two students enrolled as well. This levy would help reduce the class sizes by being able to hire more teachers. It also would allow the district to purchase new textbooks and continue with support in other areas such as maintenance of school buildings and properties, school resource officers, computer technology, athletics and extra-curricular activities, and paraprofessionals and staff that help support student learning.
That being said, you may not see all the things that go on every day in the classroom or happen district wide, but it takes a community to come together in the end to provide for our future generations. Please vote “Yes” for the levy on March 10.
