KHS: Patron taken for a ride

| March 4, 2015 8:00 PM

I have a bone to pick with the Kootenai Humane Society. And I just need to vent. I feel that they did an underhanded trick on me.

I went out there on Tuesday last week to see their dogs and found one I really wanted. But they said that he was going to be operated on later that day for a hernia and that he would be up for adoption the next day. Knowing that they have a first come first serve rule, I was the first one through the doors when they opened at noon the next day. They informed me that they hadn’t operated on him yet but they would operate on him the next day.

So the next day I was once again the first one through the doors. Then I was told that the dog had a cough, and if it was kennel cough he wouldn’t be able to be adopted until about two weeks but to come back tomorrow and see about him. If he was over his cough he could then be adopted.

So Friday I was once again the first one there and was told he had thrown up. So once again I left there broken hearted, but was told to call Saturday to see if he was OK and could be adopted.

I called at 11:20 a.m. Saturday and was told that he was being adopted as we speak. I said, “How could this be; you won’t be open until noon?” The lady said that she had gotten there early and let the people in.

So I made three trips out there from Post Falls for an underhanded trick like that to be played on me. Yes, I am upset. Not only that, but the lady in there was very snippy with me each time I inquired about the dog. Even the ladies that were with me noticed it.

So what the heck is going on in there? Now I can see that she was “saving” the dog for a friend, and I never really had a chance to get him.

I will never go all the way out there to look at their animals again — that is for sure.
