Teenager drowns in southwest Idaho pond

MARSING - Southwest Idaho law enforcement officials say a 19-year-old has drowned in a pond near Marsing.

According to the Owyhee Sheriff's Office, Cainen Bryan Johnson of Nampa was found Sunday afternoon in Claytonia Pond outside Marsing. Owyhee County dispatchers say they received a call about an accidental drowning around 3:30 p.m.

Emergency responders then found Johnson roughly 100 feet from shore.

Owyhee Sheriff's Chief Deputy Lynn Bowman says Johnson had been under water for at least an hour.

As of Monday, the coroner was still investigating Johnson's death, but officials suspect the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Eastern Idaho officers involved in shooting

IDAHO FALLS - Eastern Idaho law enforcement officials say a man was shot and critically wounded after he refused to cooperate with officers during a traffic stop.

Bonneville County sheriff's deputies were dispatched Monday morning after a report that a man had hit a pregnant woman multiple times and then taken off.
