LEGION BASEBALL: Lums fall to Missoula

| June 27, 2015 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Sam Slusser allowed four hits over seven innings, but a three-run triple by Hunter Paulson in the top of the ninth helped the Missoula Mavericks pull away for a 4-0 victory over the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen in a nonleague game at Thorco Field on Friday.

"Sam continued to do everything I asked for in a pitcher, both here and at the college level," Coeur d'Alene coach Zach Clanton said. "He worked fast, had great tempo and he has a great mentality on the mound. He did a great job of keeping us in the ballgame. We lost the game tonight with our bats, not our pitching."

Coeur d'Alene (20-6) travels to face Prairie in a North Idaho League doubleheader Monday at Post Falls High, starting at 3 p.m.
