MOUNTAIN: Vote no on the project

| June 21, 2015 9:00 PM

Went to the Rathdrum Mountain “open house” on the 16th at Lakeland High School. A fair crowd turned out.

After signing in were given colored dots a’ la pin the tail on the donkey. I asked the JUB people several questions they could not answer and was told to email them the questions and they would set up a private meeting to answer my questions. I approached Mayor Holmes and handed him the list of questions that some 40-50 residents had called me and asked me to ask at the meeting. I was informed by JUB that this forum was not for asking questions. The mayor took the list of questions and put it in his pocket and then said with myself and several others standing around: “This is a republic; we elect our officials and they decide what is right for the city and citizens!”

What? That is not a republic Mr. Mayor, that is a dictatorship. I think the players in the development of Rathdrum Mountain smell a lot of dollars; taxpayer dollars. Right now garbage collection is just under $30, and water and sewer is in the mid $70s. Coeur d’Alene runs below $60. Spokane Valley runs $25-$40. Just wondering how the senior population of Rathdrum, which is growing, will meet the possible multi-million dollar cost of development, construction and maintenance of the proposed Rathdrum Mountain Project. Vote NO on the project. Save our Mountain. Storm King Mountain.
