LEGION BASEBALL: Prairie slams into semifinal matchup

POST FALLS - Jacob Elliott went 3 for 3 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs, helping the Prairie Cardinals beat the Moses Lake Walleyes 12-4 in the School's Out Slam tournament on Saturday at Post Falls High.

Chaz Bailey went 3 for 3 with four RBIs for Prairie in the win.

"I thought our team came out with a great mentality today," Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. "Every time they scored runs, we answered back with some of our own and every time we scored runs, our pitching and defense went out and put up a zero in the next half inning. With that combination, we will win a lot of ball games."

Jared Porter struck out six for Prairie (5-12) in a 5-3 win against the Spokane Crew to advance to today's 11:30 a.m. semifinal round against the winner of the 9 a.m. game between the Spokane Dodgers and Spokane Crew.

The championship game will follow at 2 p.m.
