VANDALISM: Owner offers reward

During the early morning hours of May 16, somebody crept up to my house and sprayed orange paint on my siding, windows, garage doors and driveway. Then a mixture of waste oil and other hazardous material was poured all over my front and back porches, deck, lawn furniture and driveway. They also stole a statue of St. Francis that my wife had gotten as a keepsake after her mother passed away. Damages have been estimated in excess of $22,000. I also slipped on the oil and injured my knee as a result of this criminal act.

The person(s) who committed this malicious vandalism are probably laughing it up and thinking they got away scot free. I think they know that we know who they are. It is just a matter of time before evidence will bring them to justice.

A very uplifting thing happened as a result of this event. All of our neighbors (not the ones who did this of course) offered to help in any way they could. Several people who were just passing by on Wilbur Avenue stopped to offer help. We truly do have many good people in our community. Many thanks to all who stopped and offered to help. Kudos to the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department for neutralizing the hazardous waste.

I will pay a reward to anyone having information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who committed this cowardly act. Please call the police tip line (208) 769-2296 or email [email protected].
