COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene centerfielder Devin Kluss finished the day 5 for 5, driving in two runs in the second game, leading the Lumbermen to a pair of 5-1 victories over the Post Falls-based Northwest Premier Academy on Tuesday at Thorco Field.

"Everything he hit today seemed to be in the gap and came off the bat with a little force," Coeur d'Alene coach Zach Clanton said. "He seemed impossible to get out today."

Tanner Toepke had a sacrifice fly in the first game for Northwest Premier Academy.

In the nightcap, Connor Cardinel struck out five in four innings and Grant Wade went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Coeur d'Alene (15-2), which hosts Northern Lakes in a North Idaho League game tonight at 6 p.m. at Thorco Field.

"It's very encouraging to see Grant do that," Clanton said. "He's going to take the reigns behind the plate when Reilly (Cherry) leaves for military school. It's very encouraging to see him develop quicker than we expected. We're very, very confident to have him back there when Reilly leaves."
