Cliff and Darlene Lenz
60th Anniversary
The children of Cliff and Darlene Lenz request your presence at a reception to celebrate their parents' 60th wedding anniversary, to be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 424 Lunceford Lane, Coeur d'Alene. No gifts. Their children are Robin Lenz, Pete Lenz and Kelly Lenz-Holden.
They were married June 11, 1955, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minn.
Don and Beth Hiatt
50th Anniversary
Congratulations to Don and Beth Hiatt on their 50 years together!
Their love story began in the quaint town of Sandpoint, where my dad spotted my mom walking down Main Street. He pulled up to her in his sharp '56 Chevy and said "Hey baby, do you wanna ride?" She said "Yes!"
She was a freshman in high school and my dad was a sophomore. They dated all through high school then got married on June 11, 1965, at the First Methodist Church in Sandpoint.
Over this half a century they had two children, a daughter, Lisa (Hiatt) Anderson, 47, and a son, Greg Hiatt, who was 38 at the time of his passing after a brave but short battle with cancer in October 2008. They have six grandchildren: Jesse Anderson, 25; Jacob Anderson, 24, and Liz; Taylor Anderson, 8; Cameron Vessor, 26; Nathan Vessor, 24; and Hunter Hiatt, 17; and one great-grandchild, Kash Vessor.
They did their very best to pass along to all of us the family values and traditions that shaped their lives. When I look back I realized that I, nor my brother ever saw them disagree on issues involving either of us, which as an adult I know is something very special that can only be achieved out of mutual respect for each other as well as a healthy dose of self-control.
Don retired from the Idaho Transportation Department, although he began his career working with the Idaho State Police for the first 25 years. Beth was a homemaker and baby-sat other kids while my brother and I were young. Then when I started high school and needed braces she also went to work for Dr. Nason as a dental assistant, and later retired from that office.
My father to this day will jokingly make a comment about the fact that he married the prettiest girl in town, and my mom will scoff and say "well it's a small town, your choices were pretty limited," then they both laugh.
In celebration of this monumental occasion there will be a gathering at Q'emiln Park in Post Falls, in the new event center which is located in the area of the boat launch (last entrance on the right). If I did not have your address to send you an invitation and you want to join in the fun; please do! They would love to see you. The celebration will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015. There will be food, drink and dancing to the oldies.
