RATHDRUM: Leave the mountain alone

Rathdrum Mountain has been here a lot longer than those who now talk of changing it to their own ends. Leave well enough alone. As a former City Council member this project was looked at in the ’80s and scrapped for the same reasons that are now being discussed. Cost of future maintenance, security and the open invitation for those who would visit our community and leave their trip behind for others to clean up. Cut the dead timber as required to control fire hazards. My vote is no, leave the mountain alone for the natural creatures that call it home — deer, moose, black bear and lot of other smaller lives. When the survey comes out, I will be talking to everyone to vote no on this issue.
