PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Allert helps Trojan girls roll in regular-season finale
* GIRLS
POST FALLS - Senior Shayna Allert had 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists as the Post Falls Trojans, ranked fourth in this week's state 5A girls basketball media poll, beat the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 58-32 in the 5A Inland Empire League finale for both at The Arena.
"It was just an ugly first quarter," Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. "Some of our girls were still a little wrapped up in the (senior night) festivities and it took us a while to get rolling, but we got it going in the second quarter. Defensively, we did a good job to hold them to seven field goals in the game."
Olivia Ellison had eight rebounds and Melody Kempton scored 21 points for Post Falls (16-5, 4-2 5A IEL), which hosts Lake City in the opening round of the 5A Region 1 tournament next Friday at 7 p.m. at The Arena.
Emily Callahan scored 15 points for Coeur d'Alene (10-10, 0-6), which faces Moscow on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Cowan Spectrum.
