CHRISTIANS: Have better things to do

| January 30, 2015 8:00 PM

Interesting letter in the Coeur d’Alene Press by Stuart W. Bryan. Why is so much energy by these religious people spent on the issue of gay marriage or what the LGBT community is up to?

It always bugged me at how certain churches seem so fixated on the issue of sexual morality rather than healing those who suffer from the immorality of poverty, violence or greed. I know…they are going to say, but the Bible says this or that about gays. Well, the Bible says a lot about poverty, violence and greed too. If these Christians really want to make a difference in the world why not start there? At least there they can make a real world difference.

Someone on The Press thread asked, “How is that liberals have transformed disagreeing with as HATE?” This is not about liberals vs. conservatives. It is about recognizing equal rights and equal treatment under the law. And you know what? It is hate because of the contempt these folks show in their words toward my friends in the LGBT community. It is hate when you advocate policy that blocks equal treatment. It is hate when you refuse services to them because you don’t like their lifestyle.

If these Christians are so obsessed with sexual morality, then why not channel that zeal toward healing those who have been sexually abused? Nah. Never mind…bad idea. Since they seem to be more fixated on judgment rather than healing.

Add the four words.
