WOLF: A close encounter
In response to Doug Albertson’s letter about Mr. Mize and the wolf incident. I too Googled Mr. Mize. I agree with him on some points (that I read) and I disagree on some, but he seems to have the right attitude about big liberal government, in my opinion.
I mainly wanted to say that you can add ONE more wolf attack to your statistic of only one attack in the U.S. in the last 100 years because I PERSONALLY was attacked last spring (2014) on Fernan Saddle. I reported it to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, but apparently, it wasn’t logged in. I did use a 9mm pistol to defend myself, but unfortunately missed as I REALLY didn’t expect it to attack when I was standing next to a bonfire! The shot was a bit hurried — no time to aim. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I very rarely miss!)
I don’t think that Mr. Mize should be prosecuted as he felt like the wolf was ready to attack. He probably shouldn’t have tried to get a tag after the fact though either, but it seems as though he was upfront about the circumstances. I’m now kinda glad that I missed the wolf or I might be in the same predicament.
