| January 14, 2015 8:00 PM

Christina K. McIntyre, 66, passed away Jan. 8, 2015, at the Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Christy was born Dec. 13, 1948, to Dutch and Dorothy Schlotthauer in Coeur d'Alene, and lived in Post Falls most of her life. Growing up on a small farm where the wheat and grass fields dominated the area, Christy had plenty of room to roam the vastness of the Post Falls prairie. She was an active member in the 4H club, often bringing her animals to the Kootenai County Fair for show. Christy attended Post Falls High School where she was captain of the cheerleading team and maintained a near perfect report card. She attended many Post Falls Trojan basketball games, rooting for family and friends alike.

Animals were one of Christy's greatest loves, and she cared for her cats with a deep sense of companionship and pride. She loved to work outside and was an avid gardener and talented landscaper. Much of her time in her adult life was spent working in her garden. Christy knew all there was to know about when a plant would bloom and how to best take care of it. She would meticulously design and landscape yards of family and friends.

Christy was an independent and strong-willed woman. However, her true purpose in life was caring for family members. Christy was a devoted, loyal mother, relative and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dutch Schlotthauer; mother Dorothy Schmeling; step-father Delton Schmeling; brother Archie Russell; and sister Marilyn Anderson.

Christy is survived by her son, Matty (Andrea) McIntyre of Spokane; granddaughters Julia, Olivia and Madeline McIntyre of Spokane; brother David (Robin) Schlotthauer of Blanchard; aunt Phyllis (Roy) Turk of Post Falls; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho.

The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Living Springs Assisted Living Home in Post Falls and The Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene for the extraordinary care and compassion they provided Christy in her final months of life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in Christy's name to either of these organizations.
