PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Lakeland Ram-tough in win over Lewiston

| January 10, 2015 8:00 PM

RATHDRUM - Lakeland senior Jake Ram picked a good night for his best game of his two years on the varsity squad.

Ram had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the 4A Hawks, who edged the 5A Lewiston Bengals 53-52 on Friday in a nonleague game at Hawk Court.

"In his two years, it was his best game," Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. "And it was a great night for him to have it."

Ram tied the game at 50 with a minute remaining on a 3-pointer. Lewiston took a 52-50 lead before Tyrel Derrick gave Lakeland the lead for good, converting on a basket and free throw with 25 seconds remaining.

"Lewiston shot the ball really well," Ryan said. "(Lewiston post Trystan) Bradley played really well inside. We got down eight points and really came back hard and finished at the end. Jake had a really big night all-around, shooting, rebounding and playing some really good defense."

Lakeland (8-3) travels to Kellogg on Monday.
