MEDICAID: Avoid federal 'monstrosity'

Re: the really, really long My Turn column from the Scheids on the Medicaid gap. You lost me at “affordable.” This monstrosity is anything but affordable, which is the reason it’s not the smashing success it was expected to be — and it’s going to get worse. Premiums are going to go higher than they already have and benefits will go down. We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg. Their mastermind designer spilled the beans and called us all stupid. Well, only some. Many of us knew this wasn’t going to work, much less be popular. Oh well, until it can be modified, we’ll sit and wait.
