LAKELAND: 3 cheers from 3Cs

Cancer & Community Charities, 3Cs, would like to thank the students and faculty of Lakeland High School for their generous donation of $1,600 to our organization! As president of 3Cs I was honored to accept this donation. My husband and I attended the Lakeland HS/Post Falls HS basketball game on Dec. 19 where the check was presented at halftime. What a wonderful experience for us. We were both blown away at the NOISE those kids made! Neither one of us had been to a high school basketball game since we graduated from high school and that was a long time ago. Our ears will never be the same!

The faculty at Lakeland HS are teaching these young people some very important values that will last a lifetime. The money was raised by fundraisers: Pennies are collected all yearlong; Lakeland HS sponsored a volleyball tournament and the proceeds went to this fund; spirit packs were sold which contain a T-shirt, a ticket to the game and head garland (that was worn on the head, arms and legs!); they hold a Kiss A Pig contest.

We seem to hear only the negative stuff about young people. I think we need to shout the praises of the good things done by our young people louder than the negative stuff!
