MILLIE: Got it good in Idaho

| January 4, 2015 8:00 PM

A lot of letters to the editor lately have been bashing Millie Hayes. I want to compliment her for moving to the fourth lowest taxed U.S. state. Idaho per capita is the lowest taxed. I wonder if that very low tax rate has anything to do with the political color red?

With the socialists in total control of California, if Millie was tired of all the control, extremely high taxes and manipulation by the California government. And over 40 million population compared to Idaho’s 1.5 million people plus abundant water, much of the West is going into 15 years of drought. I lived in California in the ‘50s and early ‘60s. The state was a totally different environment, very little socialist control and not overrun with illegal aliens which contributed to many of California’s problems and over-used social and entitlement programs putting excessive burdens on California’s taxpayers.

After leaving California I moved to Nevada, but the same problems happened there. The government catered to the huge influx of illegal aliens, many in gangs, etc. If people want to become U.S. citizens they need to do it legally and quit taking advantage of taxpayers. Too many people have made careers out of entitlement programs. If corporate taxes are lowered from 39 percent, the job market will improve in the U.S.
