PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Trojans take on challenge, down Alta at CenturyLink
BOYS BASKETBALL
BOISE - Post Falls coach Mike McLean went out of his way to challenge his team this week with six games in six days.
And they couldn't have made him any more proud.
Dalton Thompson had 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, leading the Trojans past the Alta High Hawks of Sandy, Utah 72-67 win in the final game of the Centennial High New Year's tournament at CenturyLink Arena.
"Considering the challenge I placed in front of them, I couldn't be more proud of them," said McLean, whose team finished 5-1 after finishing second in the Coeur d'Alene Inn-vitational at North Idaho College, then traveling to Boise to go 3-0 in the tournament at CenturyLink. "I went out of my way to challenge them this season, and they've met each and every challenge. They continued to get better in each game and we did some things better today than we have all season. We're progressing in the right direction."
Jake Blakney had 13 points and seven rebounds for Post Falls (12-1), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Jan. 13.
