Free dental event for local teens set for Thursday
HAYDEN - Panhandle Health District is hosting its fifth annual Teen Dental Party from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Participating Kootenai County middle- and high-school-aged youths from families with limited income can receive free dental screenings, fluoride varnish, sealant and take-home dental supplies in a fun, party-like setting.
The event is at the PHD, 8500 N. Atlas Road, Hayden.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of adolescents 12 to 19. The party's provided services help strengthen teeth, reduce the risk of cavities and prevent decay. Combined, these services would typically cost as much as $400 per person.
Anyone identified with need for follow-up care may also receive vouchers for free dental cleanings and fillings, donated by local dentists.
Appointments are required. Call 415-5143 before 5 p.m. on Wednesday to RSVP.
