Betty Jane Chaney, 85

July 14, 1929 - Jan. 31, 2015

Betty will be deeply missed, and always loved and remembered! She passed away at the age of 85, on Jan. 31, 2015, at Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene.

Betty was born on the family farm in Oberon, N.D., on July 14, 1929. She moved to San Bernardino, Calif., as a young teenager, with her mother Inez Ganje and her father John Ganje. Betty was an only child.

Betty moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1975 with her husband of 53 years, George Chaney. They loved dancing, camping and spending lots of time on their houseboat, "The Betty Boop," which was moored at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Marina on beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene. Many fun, family gatherings were spent on "The Betty Boop." Betty also loved shopping and spending endless hours with her children.

Betty's husband George preceded her in death in 2005. She is survived by her three children: Daughter Cathy (Dan) Scott, son Travis (Kathi) Chaney, daughter Denise (Brian) Kitchen, and step-daughter Pam (Dan) Pritchard; 12 grandchildren: Tracy Wilkes and Jill Barkat of Arizona; Justin Simons, Hayley Scott and Tyler Hinshaw of Oregon; Alyssa Chaney, Nicole Simms, Breanna Ostlund, Nick Gasper and Mindy Hinshaw of Post Falls, Idaho; David Parker and Eric White of California; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Internment is at the Veterans Memorial at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls, Idaho. Her family is gathering for a special Celebration of Life dinner in her honor.
