PLUMMER - The Lakeside Knights earned the No. 1 seed to the 1A Division II District 1 tournament after a 48-41 North Star League win over the Mullan Tigers at Ron Miller Court on Thursday.
After tying Kootenai for first place in the league, Lakeside (9-10, 6-2 NSL) won a coin toss and the Knights received a first-round bye. Lakeside would have played Clark Fork in the first round, but Knights coach Chris Dohrman said the Wampus Cats had to cancel their season due to a shortage of players.
Lillian Rhea scored 16 points, Cailyn Dohrman added 15 and Jasmine Zahir had 13 points points.
"Jasmine Zahir probably had her best game of the year," Chris Dohrman said. "It was senior night for her. We were able to take control early in the game and we let them make a good run in the fourth quarter. We got it under control."
Charli Sadler finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds and five steals to lead Mullan (7-12, 3-5).
Lakeside plays at 6 p.m. Thursday at Kootenai, in the 1A Division II District 1 tournament championship game against the winner of Tuesday's game pitting Mullan at Kootenai.
