GIFT: Grateful for two of them

I had two pleasant surprises this month. One was when John Hohnsbehn called me about a 12-by-14 picture he had found in a dumpster. It had my husband’s name on it.

He asked me if I would like to have it. Not knowing what picture it was, but with my husband’s name on it, I knew I would like to have it. My husband passed away on Christmas Eve in 2007. He was in the picture taken in the Star mine with two other miners. I wish I knew who they are, but I don’t.

The second surprise was when John wrote a letter to the editor about the picture he gave me. Thanks John for thinking of me even though you didn’t know me.
