PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakeland rallies past Riverside

| December 30, 2015 8:00 PM

SPOKANE — Trailing 28-24 going into the fourth quarter, Lakeland went on a 17-4 tear to beat Riverside 41-32 in the West Valley Christmas Tournament on Tuesday.

Savannah Pruitt and Tauna Kirk led the charge. Kirk scored 10 of her team-high 13 points in the second half, while Pruitt scored nine of her 11 points in the half.

“We were 8 for 9 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “That was big to close out a game from the free-throw line. We haven’t been the best and we were 16 of 24 from the line. Going into the fourth quarter, we were down four and it was similar to (Monday) against East River. They did a really good job of closing it out. It was neat to see a team that’s lost some close ones and they did a great job of coming back.”

Lakeland plays on Jan. 5 at Lewiston in nonleague play.
