Margaret “Maggie” Ann Tallman, 81

Margaret “Maggie” Ann Tallman, 81, died peacefully in her home on December 21, 2015, after a long struggle with Wegener's Gran-ulomatosis. Maggie was born in Chicago, Ill. on May 3, 1934 ,to Kenneth and Margret Keating. She grew up both in the Midwest and in California graduating from high school in 1952. Maggie received her Bachelor of Arts from Mexico City Collage in 1959. Maggie and her five children moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1969. A dedicated employee of North Idaho Head Start she later became the director and founded the Harding Family Center and Head Start. She was an active volunteer who always gave back to the community, she is most noted as the Women’s Center Board of Directors and founding member, member of Idaho Fair Share, Department of Health and Welfare advisory board, North Idaho Commission for Women and the North Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus. Maggie was a creative artisan who loved to make things with her hands including stained glass, needlepoint, furniture restoration, gardening and sewing . She also loved to travel, often taking her beloved grandchildren with her to Ireland, Europe, Mexico and throughout the US. Maggie loved North Idaho with all of it’s natural beauty where she enjoyed camping with her grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband Thomas Gilmore and second husband Allen Tallman and sister Eugenia. Maggie is survived by her eternally grateful and loving children, Maura, Kathryn, Sean, Bae and Bride, stepsons Chris and Eric as well as her adored 9 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren and is further survived by devoted nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and care providers.
