Christmas for All: Just a little more

| December 24, 2015 8:00 PM

The shining star symbolic of Press Christmas for All reaching its 2015 goal of $170,000 this holiday season is ever-so-close to appearing on top of the tree. All it needs is a little more effort.

Thanks to generous contributions that trickled in all day Wednesday and a whopping $15,000 match from Anonymous in Athol, the campaign stands at $165,140 — less than $5,000 short of goal. Anonymous in Athol, one of the two largest donors in the program’s 30-year-history, has again outdone himself, this time donating $5,000 for every $20,000 the community raised since late last week. But time grows short. The intensive fundraising that began the day after Thanksgiving officially ends today at noon, when Press offices close.

Will this story have a happy ending not just for the campaign volunteers, but for the nearly 7,000 Kootenai County residents who will have a good meal tomorrow and perhaps presents under a tree because of your generous gifts? Last-minute donations called in this morning (664-8176) or dropped off at the newspaper before noon (215 N. Second St. in downtown Coeur d’Alene) will answer that question. Whichever way it goes, the Christmas Day edition will announce the results.
