Erin Legel

Great Falls

basketball

Legel, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Coeur d’Alene High, broke the Argos’ career scoring record with a 17-point game in the Argos (9-4) win against Pacific Union College on Saturday in Phoenix, Ariz. “It feels great to break the record,” Legel said. “It’s just a lot of hard work paying off. I was told before the game that I was 16 points away, but I really wasn’t paying attention to it until coach Bill (Himmelberg) called a timeout and had it announced over the PA. It’s definitely a cool moment.”

Legel, who already holds the school’s single season scoring record and career assists record, scoring the record breaking shot on a layup late in the third quarter that put Great Falls up 22 points.

“It’s obviously well deserved for her,” Himmelberg said. “She has worked really hard for all her success. Not only has she been a great scorer, but she has done so much for our program. We’re all extremely happy for her.”

Brittany Tackett

Lewis-Clark State basketball

Tackett, a 6-1 sophomore forward from Coeur d’Alene High, is second in the NAIA in field goal percentage at 62.9 percent (61 for 97) for the Warriors (9-3). Tackett is averaging 11.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game and has started 11 of 12 games.
