Ila H. Byrd, 96

Ila H. Byrd, age 96, passed away at Bristol Heights Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene, ID, on December 4, 2015.

Ila was born in Kellogg, ID, on November 28, 1919, to John and Ida (Taipalus) Maki. Ila was a lifetime resident of the Silver Valley. She attended school in Kingston, ID, and graduated from Kellogg High School. Ila married Howard R. Byrd on January 18, 1941, in Coeur d’Alene, ID, they moved to Wardner in 1945.

Ila was a CNA and worked for Shoshone Living Center.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and Esther Circle in Kellogg, ID. Ila enjoyed volunteering for the Wardner Election Board, crocheting, dancing, swimming, and loved spending time with her family.

Ila is survived by her children: Roberta and husband George Gunderson of Smetlerville, ID, Dale and wife Jo Byrd of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Ron and wife Julie Byrd of Weare, NH, and Wayne Byrd of Coeur d’Alene, ID; 11 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren.

Ila is preceded in death by her husband Howard in 1976, brother Elmer Maki, sister Elsie, Hightower, and daughter Carol Gunderson.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday December 11, 2015 at Riverview Cemetery, 772 W Harrison Ave; Coeur d Alene, ID 83814. A reception will immediately follow the graveside service at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, ID. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, ID, is in charge of the arrangements.
