MOSCOW — Nina Carlson scored a game-high 12 points and Kate Maryon added two points and nine steals to lead the Lake City Timberwolves to a 40-24 win over the Moscow Bears at Bearn Den on Monday night.

“We had a little talk after the first quarter,” Lake City coach Bryan Kelly said. “The ball wasn’t droppiing for us, so we had to do it other ways, and we defensively, we played great from that point on.

Kate Maryon had an outstanding game. It wans’t until the second quarter that we started playing, and she was the spark of that.

Kelly said Maryon had five steals in the second quarter.

Lauren Rewers and Keara Simpson added nine and eight points, respectively, for the T-Wolves (4-0) who host Sandpoint on Friday.

Sammy Hill added 16 points, five assists and 10 rebounds for North Idaho Christian, which faces Upper Columbia Academy on Thurday in Spangle, Wash.

James Rosenthal added 12 points and four assists and Kobe Cottier also had 12 points for North Idaho Christian, which travels to Liberty Lake to face Pullman Christian on Thursday at The HUB.

Vikings sweep, LC splits in duals

COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Vikings swept duals with Bonners Ferry (70-12) and East Valley (52-18) on Monday night at Coeur d’Alene High. Nate Jensen (285) pinned both his opponents, and Kaleb Maciosek (120), Chase Baca (138), Dylan Lockwood (145) and Isaiah Skinner (170) each had two wins for Coeur d’Alene.

Lake City split its two duals with Bonners Ferry and East Valley.

“Bonners is an inexperienced tea, but we had a great match with East Valley,” Coeur d’Alene coach jeff Moffat said. “The score was a lot closer than indicated.

Moffat was proud of his team, which has survived 10 duals in five days. “We came out today and wrestled well.”

The Vikings get back at it at the Inland Empine at Central Valley on Friday and Saturday.

Lake City coach Corey Owen also had good things to say about the evening.

“East Vally was really a solid team, and we were in striking distance coming into the last match, but it didn’t go our way. We took away some good competition from the matches.”

The Timberwolves return to action at the West Valley dual tournament on Saturday.
