BIBLE: It's not a weapon to injure
Our world is filled with such divisiveness. The loud, rather obnoxious, noise drowns out reason. We should each consider our important part.
My heart breaks when I see the Bible used to hurt others. It should not be used to justify judgment, or issue warnings. It’s not your role.
Scripture is interpreted differently. Consider, the Civil War which was Biblically justified, often the same verse, as believers killed one another. In Genesis, many reference Sodom and Gomorrah with homosexuality. The sin was rape, which is not the same. Ezekial 16:49 “Now this was the sin or your sister Sodom. She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed, and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore, I did away with them as you have seen.”
We all sin. “Why do you look at the speck of dust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” No one is better than another. My interpretation leads me to believe those who selectively quote the Bible to hurt others, will face a harsher judgment. “Do not judge, or you will be judged. For the same way you judge others, you will be judged, with the same measure you use.” Mt7:1-2.
Please consider the words we share with our community. “There are six things the Lord hates… and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.” Proverbs:6:16-19.
Be kind, serve others. Our community would greatly benefit.
